Da liegt es, das Gefängnis von Meilen. Mässigen Schrittes gehen wir darauf zu, entdecken das geschlossene Schiebetor, hinter dem eine Wächterin wartet. Als wir eintreten, begrüsst sie uns und kontrolliert unsere Tickets für die Veranstaltung. Jetzt heißt es warten im Vorhof. Mit all dem Stacheldraht um mich herum fühle ich mich hier schon etwas bedrückt. Hier können wir uns mit Getränken und Sandwiches stärken und die Zeit überbrücken, bis alle Teilnehmer eingetroffen sind. Auf dem Weg zur Toilette kann man schon ein wenig Gefängnisatmosphäre schnuppern. 

Endlich stellen sich die Wächter auf der Rampe zur Vorstellung auf und die Gefängnisleitung tritt vor, um eine eindrückliche Ansprache zu halten. Kurz darauf betreten wir das Gefängnisgebäude und werden von den Wärtern zu den Zellen geführt, wo sie uns in die Zellen einteilen. Während ich zuschaue, fällt mir auf, dass immer 3 Personen in eine Zelle kommen, wir aber zu viert sind. Werden wir aufgeteilt? Muss einer von uns zu Fremden? 

Ich werde von meiner Gruppe getrennt und muss in die nächste Zelle. Dort treffe ich ein Pärchen, das ich noch nie in meinem Leben gesehen habe. Gut, dann muss ich mich eben an die Situation anpassen und mit Menschen zurechtkommen, deren Stärken und Schwächen ich nicht kenne. 

Das Spiel beginnt, sobald die Tür geschlossen ist. Die Rätsel sind eher einfach gehalten, bieten aber Abwechslung und machen Spaß. Das Escape-Erlebnis findet nur in der Zelle statt, beinhaltet aber Geschicklichkeit, Logik, Suchaufgaben und erfordert auch Zusammenarbeit. Da dies alles auf eine Zelle reduziert ist und in den echten Zellen keine baulichen Maßnahmen getroffen werden konnten, würde ich es als Escape Room light bezeichnen, auch die verkürzte Spieldauer von 30-45 Minuten spricht dafür. 

Gegen Ende des Spiels empfanden wir es als etwas chaotisch, da es mit 90 Mitgefangenen doch etwas laut werden kann. Insgesamt hat es aber Spaß gemacht und auch mit Fremden gut funktioniert.

Wenn die Flucht aus der Zelle gelungen ist, wird man gebeten zu warten, bis 3 andere Zellen auch die Flucht geschafft haben. Sobald das volle Dutzend erreicht ist, übernimmt ein Wärter die Gruppe und man bekommt eine persönliche Führung durch das Gefängnis. Diese wird im Internet als inszenierte Führung angepriesen, neben den Videosequenzen der Wärter, die von ihrem Leben als Wärter und ihren Beweggründen erzählen, fand ich diese aber nicht sehr inszeniert. Aber trotzdem interessant. 

Es ist eine spannende Veranstaltung, die Spaß macht, aber nicht mit Veranstaltungen wie dem Prison Escape in Breda zu vergleichen ist und keine Live Action Role Play Elemente enthält. Dennoch macht der Ausbruch Spaß und man bekommt einen spannenden Einblick hinter die Tore eines echten Gefängnisses. Das ganze ist auf einem Preis von 45.- p.P. basiert, was wir für ein 2 stündiges Erlebnis sehr Fair finden.

I am separated from my group and have to go to the next cell. There I meet a couple I have never seen before in my life. Fine, I'll just have to adapt to the situation and get along with people whose strengths and weaknesses I don't know. 

The game begins as soon as the door is closed. The puzzles are rather simple, but offer variety and are fun. The escape experience only takes place in the cell, but involves skill, logic, search tasks and also requires cooperation. Since this is all reduced to one cell and no construction measures could be taken in the real cells, I would call it Escape Room light, also the shortened game duration of 30-45 minutes speaks for this. 

Towards the end of the game, we found it a bit chaotic, as it can get a bit noisy with 90 fellow prisoners. Overall, however, it was fun and worked well even with strangers.

Once you have managed to escape from your cell, you are asked to wait until 3 other cells have also managed to escape. Once the full dozen have been reached, a guard takes over the group and you get a personal tour of the prison. This is advertised on the internet as a staged tour, but apart from the video sequences of the guards talking about their life as guards and their motives, I didn't find it very staged. But interesting nonetheless. 

It is an exciting event that is fun, but cannot be compared to events like the Prison Escape in Breda and does not contain any Live Action Role Play elements. Nevertheless, the escape is fun and you get an exciting insight behind the gates of a real prison. The whole thing is based on a price of 45.- p.p., which we think is very fair for a 2 hour experience.
